Before the smartphone era my husband was stung by a jellyfish in the water off of South Padre Island. We used my cell phone to call a friend who had the Internet at his house. This friend directed us to buy meat tenderizer, vinegar, and baking soda, and try each as an anti-sting method. This essentially turned my husband into the worst sort of grade-school-volcano experiment in the parking lot of a South Texas grocery store.
